The Secret Garden

Micro-nursery, planting services & garden consultations

You want a beautiful garden but you don’t know where to start.

You hear people talking about the importance of biodiversity, organic growing and planting for pollinators – but what does it all mean??

Perhaps you’ve got a boring border – or an empty patio crying out for some colourful containers.

Will that thing you planted last year grow back? Will that thing you planted last year ever stop growing?!

Where are all the bees, and how do you help them? Perhaps you have a flower, a colour or a style in mind for your garden, but you have no idea where – or when – to find what you want.

That’s where I come in, offering a variety of planting, garden maintenance and consultancy services according to your needs and your budget.

The Secret Garden micro-nursery

My back garden plant nursery based in Angus, growing hardy and herbaceous perennials, grasses, herbs and shrubs suitable for the Scottish climate. I grow everything using peat-free compost, recycled pots and containers as much as possible and with zero chemicals.

The stock changes frequently and seasonally – so to keep up to date with what’s looking good and for sale follow The Secret Garden on Facebook.

Plant sourcing services: searching for a specific plant, colour or variety?

If I’m not growing it, I can find out who does. There’s not much I enjoy more than shopping for plants! So let me do the legwork – I’ll do the research, find out who (if anyone!) can provide the plants you want, and I can even order them, pick them up and plant them out too. Contact me to discuss your plant needs and a bespoke price for your project.

Garden consultation: how does it work?

I visit your garden for around an hour and check out the area in question. I’ll spend time identifying the plants and the conditions of the garden, then we’ll chat – I’ll ask you questions about the garden and what you want from your outdoor space. I’ll give you verbal advice and guidance on the spot and/or I can prepare a more detailed report for you to keep and refer back to. If you want even more help with your garden I’ll select, source, buy and plant up your border. We can even arrange ongoing regular maintenance visits.

Get in touch to discuss your hopes and dreams for your garden! I’d love to help you out – and we can discuss a bespoke plan and price to meet your needs and your budget.

Why listen to me? I’ve been enthusiastically gardening at home for 10 years, and I’m qualified – I have an RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles and Practices of Horticulture – which means I’ve learned lots about the basics of growing and looking after healthy plants, as well as planning and maintaining a great outdoor space.

I’m an experienced garden journalist, keeping abreast of all the current trends and newest developments in gardening and planting design – and I’m also a keen flower photographer, so I know what looks good in the garden!

I want to help you to enjoy your garden as much as I enjoy mine, so if you think you’d benefit from a helping hand with green fingers then get in touch!
